A Christmas Story

This is a Christmas story. Though, unlike many others, it's told by a Turk. Let's see…

"It's Christmas Eve and you're coming back from a nice party. You get off the train at the 30th Street Station but home is still away. You head out, walk for three blocks and start waiting for the bus. Ten minutes… Twenty… As time goes by, you know it's a holiday and many bus drivers are with their families. You are waiting for one of the few unlucky and patience is the only way to show respect. You are certain of one thing, though. You don't have a token, but you should have two one dollar banknotes to take care of the fare.

Finally, you can see the bus from three blocks away, and it's time to get ready to pay. And that's the moment when you realize you only have a single one dollar, this is probably the only bus for the next hour, and it's really really cold. Desperately, you start searching through your pockets. One quarter… Two quarters… Three quarters… Four?.. No… You also have a dime and two nickels. Well, it's still five cents short and bus is right there waiting for the red light. Probably thirty seconds between you and the poor beggar... And, guess what?! One more nickel in a remote corner of your backpack. When you move your eyes back up to the bus, you see it stopping in front of you, and the only thing you need to do is to act fast and get some rest for the next twenty blocks.

You might be an atheist but you are sure that last nickel was a gift from Santa Claus.

It's Christmas Eve, and you've been a good boy lately, haven't you?!?"

Merry Christmas everybody!!!
